Charvarius Ward ready to help San Francisco 49ers get inside track to land big-time free agent

It's not clear if the San Francisco 49ers have an interest in former All-Pro cornerback Tre'Davious White, who remains on the open market after his release by the Buffalo Bills.

But, if the Niners want to add him to their secondary, their All-Pro corner Charvarius Ward appears ready to help.

Ward responded a post on X (formerly Twitter) talking about the possibility of White lining up alongside him and Deommodore Lenoir in the San Francisco defensive backfield, pointing out that the two share an agent.

He added: "If y’all want him lmk."

In an earlier post in which he tagged his and White's agency, Universal Sports Management, Ward described White as a "Hand in glove fit".

White was first-team All-Pro in 2019 and is a two-time Pro Bowler who is reportedly attracting significant interest despite injuries derailing his career in Buffalo.

Per NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, White has visits scheduled with the Los Angeles Rams and Las Vegas Raiders.

The Niners, who have appeared to place an emphasis on durable players during free agency, may be put off by an injury history that includes a torn ACL and an Achilles tear, suffered in Week 4 last season.

They have also recently added to their secondary, signing cornerback Isaac Yiadom to a one-year deal. Yiadom is coming off a career year with the New Orleans Saints in which he posted 14 pass breakups.

Yet the Niners know the value of depth in the secondary, having consistently been short of it during the Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch era.

Adding White to the mix would put the 49ers in a very strong position and take the pressure off him to get back to his best following the injury given the presence of a presumptive top three as talented as Ward, Lenoir and Yiadom.

Whether White is interested in operating as part of a rotation is a different matter, but if the 49ers are keen on his services, then they'll at least be familiar with his representation having dealt with them to take Ward's talents to the Bay Area two years ago.
